My 4 key essential supplements:

I did a poll asking who takes daily supplements. I had 53% answered “yes” and the other 47% answered “no, why should I?”. The reason why I asked is because I wasn’t big into taking supplements either. But then I did some research and found out I could clear up a lot of the symptoms I’d been having by just adding a few into my daily routine. Some of the symptoms were: severe cystic acne on my face and back, bloating, brain fog, anxiety, mood swings, yeast infections (too much info? Probably… oh well), and inflammation. So if you struggle with any of these I suggest you keep reading.

Before we go any further, no I’m not a doctor and no I am not trying to sell you supplements. I simply want to share with you what has worked for me, so take what you will and let’s get right into it.

Probiotics: This is absolutely number one. Probably the most important supplement you can take. They are known for helping with depression & anxiety, bloating, weight management, the list goes on. Especially women who want to balance their hormones and avoid yeast infections. Regardless, probiotics are amazing for your overall gut health.

When there’s any disease or infection it’s most likely because of a gut problem. That being said probiotics are a great way to balance the healthy bacteria in your gut.

A lot of the food we eat today and even just being stressed can tear up our gut lining. Probiotics help to repair and remove toxins and bad bacteria from the gut. As for what kind I take one by Garden of Life for women, but everyone’s different and it’s good to have a few that you rotate through. So do your research!

Greens powder: You’ve all been told to eat your greens about 89234987x in your life by your mom. And like many other things she’s right. I used to have a love hate relationship with this one.. mainly because the green supplement I was taking before tasted like rabbit food but was torn because I felt so good after taking it.

I finally found one that tastes SO good it has this minty taste to it so if that's your thing I get mine from Organifi. This stuff has tons of antioxidants and vitamins that help strengthen your immune system and detoxify your body. I take this every morning and it's like a switch in my brain turns on and I get this natural rush of energy. It's also great for staying regular if ya know what I'm saying...

Not only does it taste good but it's loaded with ingredients such as, spirulina, chlorella, wheat grass, matcha green tea, ashwagandha, red beat, turmeric and much more. It also contains prebiotic, which is a fiber that humans can't digest but serves as food for probiotics that helps promote healthy gut bacteria. I could go on but greens are huge for detoxify, especially after a night of drinking!

Fish Oil: This is also another staple to anyone's supplement routine. It’s known for improving brain function, reducing inflammation, overall joint support, prevents clotting as well as giving your skin a glow and getting in your essential Omega 3s. If you’ve ever suffered a concussion(s) like me these are super important and highly recommended. The one's I take are by Nature’s Bounty.

Balance by Alani Nu: This is a supplement that I stumbled upon from one of my fav fitness people Katy Hearn but this stuff is the real deal. Honest, this is what saved my skin the most.

For those of you that don’t know I have PCOS which I won't go into much detail right now, but it’s basically an imbalance of hormones.

And with an imbalance of hormones comes a lot of acne (my case - severe cystic acne on my face and back), stress, anxiety, bloating, mood swings, insulin resistance, painful periods, voodoo pains and much more. I thought I was crazy but turns out 1 in 10 women with PCOS struggle with similar symptoms.

So while doing my research I really wanted to find something to help balance my hormones and regulate things naturally since I’ve gone off the pill. This supplement did its job. I seriously cannot recommend it enough it's magic.

Are supplements necessary? No. But if you're not eating the right foods you're missing out on a ton of vitamins and minerals that your body needs to perform at it's best. So if you're sick a lot then this is a great option to help prevent illnesses and gain mental clarity. The reason I take these supplements is because I 100% feel a difference when I don't and I 100% feel better when I do.

This says a lot coming from me as I'm not a big fan of taking any pills, I don’t even like taking Advil. So I try to minimize as much as possible and focus on the key important things (eating healthy, moving daily and supplementing when necessary). I honestly believe that our bodies have the greatest ability to heal itself when given the chance.

When I do take supplements, I do the research and go for quality, which usually means more $$. But who wants to swallow 100 pills everyday… not me. So take what you will and see what works for you. The key is consistency, if you’re going to spend the money I suggest taking them daily.
